Are you wondering who the richest people in the world are right now? I surely am and while Forbes updates their lists of the richest in real time as markets fluctuate… the magazine also releases a more set list each year.

Just to give you an idea of how much all these guys accumulatively have, I will put it into Rands for you. The richest as of March 2018 sums up to $7.67 Trillion dollars. That is R96 112 770 000 000.00 in total.

10. Larry Ellison - Born August 17, 1944

Lawrence Joseph Ellison is an American businessman, entrepreneur, and philanthropist who is co-founder, executive chairman and chief technology officer of Oracle Corporation.

Net worth: $58.5 billion = 734 Billion ZAR

Ellison is the founder and largest shareholder of Oracle, the database company that had revenue of $38 billion in the year to May 31, 2017. He owns about a quarter of the Redwood City, California-based company as well as a sailing team, the Indian Wells tennis event and real estate, including Hawaii's Lanai island.

9 & 8. David (Born May 3, 1940) & Charles (Born November 1, 1935) Koch

Charles and David Koch, ages 78 and 74, are billionaire brothers who helped create a broad network of non-profit groups that control hundreds of millions of dollars flowing into politics.

Net worth: $60 billion EACH = 752 Billion ZAR EACH

Koch Industries, Inc. is an American multinational corporation based in Wichita, Kansas and the company is the largest privately held company in the United States after Cargill, with annual revenue of $115 billion (in 2007). Charles and David Koch each own 42% of the company with E. Pierce Marshall Jr. only owning 16%.

7. Carlos Slim Helu & family - Born January 28, 1940

Carlos Slim Helu is a Mexican business magnate, engineer, investor, philanthropist. and he is the chairman and CEO of telecom giants Telmex and América Móvil.

In his own country, Mexico, he has personally supported more than 165,000 young people in attending university, paid for numerous surgeries, provided equipment for rural schools and covered surety bonds for 50,000 people who were entitled to their freedom but could not afford.

América Móvil is a Mexican telecommunications corporation headquartered in Mexico City, Mexico. It is the fourth largest mobile network operator in terms of equity subscribers and one of the largest corporations in the world.

6. Amancio Ortega - Born March 28, 1936

Ortega has become one of the world's most successful and respected fashion retail moguls, overseeing a fast-growing portfolio that includes 'fast fashion' clothing chains Zara, Massimo Dutti, Pull & Bear, Bershka, and Stradivarius.

Zara is a Spanish fast fashion retailer based in Arteixo, Galicia. The company was founded in 1975 by Amancio Ortega and Rosalía Mera. It is the main brand of the Inditex group, the world's largest apparel retailer.
